These substances are highly toxic to humans and livestock. Most important source of fibre for Interior Native groups. They would separate the fibres and dry them to make into twine for a great variety of uses, such as fish nets, animal traps, sewing, weaving baskets, generally for holding things together. It was also a much desired trade item among the Native peoples.
